“The Biomedical Career Day” is the signature event of the School of Life Science at The Asian Institute of Business and Science (AIBS), where it brings together students from across the country who are keen in pursuing higher education options across many fields of Life Sciences. The purpose of the Biomedical Career Day is to enlighten young, ambitious minds with proper knowledge and skill set to help them select the best pathway towards their higher education and career.
Each year, “The Biomedical Career Day” has assembled leading personalities in academia and the industry to share their experiences and guide youngsters towards their goals. This time the event was graced by keynote speaker Dr. Hiran Amarasekara, a Professor in Forestry and Environment Science at the Department of Forestry & Environmental Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, who has enlightened the students about evolving them selves as science students and opening up to many career pathways that life sciences has to offer.
Biomedical Career Day 2023 was well-endowed by a line-up of renowned list of guest speakers consiting Dr. Chandanamali Punchihewa, the Founder / Chief Scientist, GeneLabs, Dr. Rohan Sugathadasa, Chairman & Managing Director, Derana Medical Laboratory Testing Services and Ms. Jayani Gunawardena, Senior Lecturer, Asian Institute of Business and Science also shared their expertise and experience in the field of science. Ms. Laura Collier, International Recruitment & Marketing Officer (South Asia) – Edge Hill University and Mr. Hiran de Silva, Director / CEO (AIBS) graced the event as well.
Out of many schools who have participated in this event, Royal College, Srimavo Bandaranayake Vidyalaya, Ananda College, St. Bridget Convent, Anula Vidyalaya, Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya, Nalanda College, Visaka Vidyalaya & Gothami Balika Vidyalaya can be mentioned . It was encouraging to experience the support from the school principals, sectional heads, the teachers & tuition masters towards this event.
