Prof. Srianthie Ayoma Deraniyagala
Prof. Deraniyagala is the Senior Professor of Chemistry at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She holds a BSc (Honours) in Chemistry (1978), a First Class Honours with Applied Mathematics as the subsidiary subject from the University of Colombo and a PhD from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada (1984). Her field of specialization is in Bio Organic Chemistry and Mechanistic Organic Chemistry
Prof. Deraniyagala has received many awards such as the Dalhousie Graduate Fellowship (1979/80) Sir Izaak Walton Killam Scholarship (1980/83), the Dalhousie Teaching Assistantship (1979/83) the National Science Foundation (Science in Developing Countries) Post-Doctoral Fellowship from Wesleyan University (1991/92) and the Third World Academy of Science Research Grant (1994). She has a wealth of experience as a lecturer commencing in the year 1978 at the University of Colombo. She has also served as the Head of the Department of Chemistry (2002-2003), Visiting Senior Professor at the College of Chemical Sciences, Institute of Chemistry Ceylon.
Prof. Deraniyagala has numerous research publications to her name, in both national and international journals related to her specialization in Bio Organic Chemistry and Mechanistic Organic Chemistry.
