Ms. Jayani Gunawardana has priceless industry exposure in scientific innovation and has leveraged her knowledge and skills across diverse areas of Science. She holds the post of Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology, Bio Informatics, and Medical Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at AIBS.
Ms. Gunawardana has developed her expertise in the evaluation of genomic mutations responsible for metastasis related gene expression, as well as in the utilization of molecular techniques for the analysis and understanding of pain associated neurological and psychological responses in humans. She has extensive lecturing experience in Biomedical Science (Level UG/PG) and has demonstrated her abilities in the areas of Biochemistry, Clinical Chemistry, and Laboratory Techniques for Applied Biology/Analytical Techniques. She has research experience in the United Kingdom, funded by British Mass Spectrometry Society and has participated in numerous national and international conferences and trainings. She has worked with the Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology and contributed to research on breast cancer.
Ms. Gunawardana has completed her BSc (Hons) in Medical Biochemistry & Molecular Biology with an Upper Second class from University of Greenwich, United Kingdom in 2010, as well as a MSc in Biotechnology, with a Distinction (First Class) from the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom, 2011. She is currently undertaking her PhD at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo under the Departments of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, investigating Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown Aetiology (CKDu) in Sri Lanka.
